Themes in my writing

In my quest to find ideas that I can use for my BSSP entry next year, I have been going through my various ‘idea’s files’ and looking at the many, many fragments of stories I have started.
While doing this I’ve started to see a some definite common themes it my writing.

However, now I’m not so sure.

Bristolcon

Wow, this could not have come at a better time for me!
Tonight I discover that there is a local literary sci-fi convention, just before the November (and the start of Nanowrimo!), called Bristolcon
Not only that, but Keith Blount of Scrivener fame will be giving a talk AND there will be a talk which is described as

…Seeking inspiration for writers and would-be writers in the cityscape.” Anyone with an interest in urban fiction or Bristolian history should try and grab a front-row seat for this one!

Given my nanowrimo story this year is an urban fantasy set in an Edwardian Bristol which never quite happened, it almost looks like this convention was made for me, so it would be rude of me not to atend!

This years story

If you have been following me in twitter, then you’ll know I have picked this years Nanowrimo story.

A very cool idea

A very cool idea from a David Hewson. Use Scriveners sync with folder option locally to sync with your favourite distraction free writing tool.
I’ve used the folder sync option in Scrivener so I work with files on the iPad (via Dropbox), but I would never through of using this feature to sync to a local folder. Very simple and it works really well. Now when I want to worry about the structure of a story I edit it directly in Scrivener, when I want to just write, I use Byword and do just that!
A very cool idea indeed!
