I live quite a bit of my life on the web, as you might have seen on this page!
Currently I manage 5 of my own sites, 2 sites for friends and…well some other sites which are not in anyway linked to me (I shall say no more about those!)

Hyperlands.net
My first web site.
The domain was registered way back in almost internet pre-history, the year 2000. This domain has been my ‘main domain’ for most of that time. Only now that I’ve started to use this domain in a serious way, will my main email start to move from hyperlands.
In it’s long history the site has served many different purposes, you can find a history of all that here.
Currently the site is home for my writing and photo’s

My blog
For a long time I used the bloging function on my local CMS software (Rapidwaver), but as a result of working with WordPress for various other projects, I wanted to use it on my own blog. Then when I moved to a new web host, I got a free domain. Hyperlands.co.uk was available, so I picked that and hey presto I had another site to manage.
Cool Aardvark
The beginning of my strange aardvark obsession!
The origin of this site (and the obsession) goes back a time when I worked on an IT help desk (okay so I still do!). A college was trying to explain the concept of a domain and picked two random words to do this. Those words where cool and aardvark. The legend was born…
Well actually it wasn’t until I started to put content on the site that I needed a name for the aardvark character which featured on the site, and thus Artimus Aardvark was born
The site it’s self has a couple of different versions, the current one doesn’t actually have much on it, but I have big plans for it
Combat Wombat
A case of serendipity (a happy mistake)…
When I started to create the Artimus character in my head, I saw him as a rock start. And rock stars need a bands behind them, so I came up with the ant eaters! I needed several animals that eat ants and sounded cool. A friend suggested Numbat, which sounded cool, but I didn’t register the name straight away. By the time I did register the domain name, I’d remembered the name wrongly. Wombats don’t eat ants, they are herbivores. However the name was registered by then, so it stuck. In any case I think combat wombat sounds better.
Again I needed a character for the site, so Sgt ‘Wombo’ Burnett was born. Originally the site was going to do nothing more than feature the Sgt, but it has grown (very slowly!) in to a store front for my cute and armed tee shirts!
Again I have big plans for the Sgt!

The hub of my online world…
Despite the fact that this domain was the second domain name I registered (I now have 15!), nothing happened with it till 2010. For over 9 years it was sitting, not even parked with no DNS records…sad.
But then I discovered the concept of life stream and since was using Twitter and to a less degree Facebook it seemed a good idea to use this site to pull all things me together in one place.
And here it is!
